The Center of British Culture (CBC) was created as a component of the Department of English Language Practice in the structure of the Faculty of Foreign Philology of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University.
TsBK is a scientific and educational and methodological base for the research activities of teachers, graduate students and students of Lesya Ukrainka University.
Central Bank was created with the purpose of:
· increasing the level of knowledge of the language, as well as culture, literature, history, economy, and the socio-political system of Great Britain in accordance with the interests of the users of the Center (students, postgraduates, teachers of Lesya Ukrainka University);
· creation of favorable conditions for study and independent work of students, scientific and methodical work of teachers and graduate students;
· promotion of mutual enrichment of national cultures, strengthening of educational, social and economic ties between Ukraine and Great Britain;
holding meetings with representatives of embassies, heads of representative offices of British companies and organizations accredited in Ukraine;
· career guidance for future students of Lesya Ukrainka University, opportunities to visit and get acquainted with the faculty of foreign philology for high school students of Lutsk and regional schools;
· conducting open practical classes, discussions, "round tables", seminars on the course "Linguistic studies of the main language countries" and other disciplines.
The Central Bank sets itself the following tasks:
· attraction of public organizations and state institutions, both Ukrainian and British, to the University, establishment of cooperation with Ukrainian diaspora centers, public organizations;
· replenishment of the Center with information resources, creation of educational and methodological materials for the study of British culture in Ukraine;
preparation for publication of scientific articles and publications on the problems of the English language, literature, culture, history and the Ukrainian diaspora in Great Britain.
Forms of activity of the Center:
· Publication of educational and scientific-methodical literature.
· Conducting cultural and educational events, organizing exhibitions, preparing posters dedicated to significant dates, persons, and national holidays of Great Britain.
· Formation of the fund of English language and country studies literature.
