Center for Norwegian Language and Culture
The Norwegian Language and Culture Center was founded at the Faculty of Foreign Philology of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University in 2018. Its grand opening took place on October 1, 2018, during a visit to the University by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Norway to Ukraine, Ole Terje Horpestad. The creation of the center of Norwegian culture is due to the need for the widest possible popularization of the history, language and culture of the Kingdom of Norway in Ukraine, given the relevance and perspective of expanding cooperation between Ukraine and Norway, the development and strengthening of bilateral Ukrainian-Norwegian cultural relations.
The goals of the Center are:
- creating favorable conditions for learning the Norwegian language, getting to know the culture, literature and history of Norway;
- promoting the mutual enrichment of national cultures, strengthening educational and social ties between Ukraine and Norway;
- conducting Norwegian language classes, seminars, open classes, "round tables".
The Norwegian Language and Culture Center sets itself the following tasks:
- selection of necessary literature for learning the Norwegian language, textbooks, video and audio materials;
- the study of cross-cultural differences expressed through the Ukrainian and Norwegian languages;
- study, analysis and systematization of language, country studies, socio-cultural and psychological facts related to the peculiarities of representatives of Norwegian culture;
- study of Norwegian folk art, customs and traditions;
- organization of exhibitions, preparation of posters dedicated to the activities of cultural and artistic figures of Norway.
