WHAT DOES THE GERMAN LANGUAGE CENTER OFFER?

The German language center is an official accredited partner of the German cultural center "Goethe-Institut in Ukraine" and offers all those interested to study the German language at a high quality level. Focusing on a high standard of quality, the Goethe-Institut carries out professional development of its teachers, consults on issues of methodology/didactics and management of language courses. Courses at the German Language Center are based on the All-European recommendations for language education developed by the Council of Europe.

TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Twice a year (in September and February), the German Language Center recruits students for language courses at levels A1 to C2, which involve 80 academic hours per semester. Each semester, about 100 students study, and their total number during the time of the Language Center's activity reaches more than 1500. The classes are conducted according to the communicative method that the Goethe-Institut successfully practices all over the world. With the help of authentic texts, up-to-date information and textbooks from Germany, course participants acquire knowledge of the modern German language that they can apply in practice. Peculiarities of teaching according to the communicative method: from the very first lesson, teaching in the courses is carried out in German; modern technical means are used in education; forms of work in classes are constantly changing: students work together, in groups or independently; the relationship between the teacher and students is built on a partnership basis; grammatical material is integrated into the process of communicative learning.

TEACHERS

All teachers of the German Language Center have a higher professional education in German studies. A prerequisite for teaching is a successfully completed language exam at level C1 or C2 (Goethe-Zertifikat, Zentrale Oberstufenprüfung). Every year, the teachers of the German Language Center take part in four mandatory seminars for professional development, as well as in additional seminars, webinars, and projects if desired. In addition, the Goethe-Institut offers scholarships for internships or studies in Germany.

EXAMS

The Goethe-Institut is one of the founders of the Association of Language Testers in Europe (ALTE). Language exams from the Goethe-Institut at levels B1 and B2 are held twice a year on the basis of the German Language Center in Lutsk. These language certificates are recognized all over the world and are a reliable confirmation of the level of knowledge of the German language.
