Information about the Geological Museum
The idea of creating a geological museum arose in the early 80's XX century. and began to be implemented in Lutsk Pedagogical Institute named after Lesya Ukrainka thanks to the support of the then Rector N.V. Burchak. On the formation of a collection of minerals, rocks and paleontological remains of dead organisms worked Doctor of Geological Sciences, Professor of the Department of Physical Geography F.V. Zuzuk and then dean of the Faculty of Natural Geography, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Professor V. Active participation in the collection of museum materials was taken by students of the faculty during the practice in different parts of the former Soviet Union - the Far East and Primorye, Zabaykalli, Central Asia, the Kola Peninsula, the Urals and the Caucasus. The collected collection became the basis for the opening on September 18, 1998 rector, doctor of chemical sciences, Professor I. D. Oleksiuk of the laboratory of minerals on the rights of the geological museum. Candidate of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, Associate Professor G.V. Belsky was appointed the head of the laboratory. In 2009, on the initiative of Professor Zuzuk F.V., work was started on the reorganization of the laboratory of minerals of the Department of Geography into a geological museum. According to the order of the Rector of the Volyn National University named after Lesya Ukrainka Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor I. Y. Kotsan, the minerals laboratory received the status of a geological museum from September 1, 2010. In the same year, the museum received the relevant constituent documents: certificate and passport. The Geological Museum of the Eastern European National University named after Lesya Ukrainka is in the management of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and is part of educational work. It was created to demonstrate natural geological exhibits of Volyn, Ukraine, regions of Europe, Asia and Africa with the aim of in-depth study of courses of geology, geomorphology, ecology by students of geographical, biological, chemical faculties and pedagogical institute. It is also designed for group work with high school students of secondary schools and gymnasiums and conducting classes with students of the Small Academy.
The museum exhibits collections of minerals and rocks.
