HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
Training of specialists in the Ukrainian and Russian philology in Volyn began in 1940 with the establishment of the Lutsk State Teachers' Institute. In 1946, a historical and philological department was established in an educational institution, and in 1948 the first graduation of teachers of philology took place. In 1952 the historical and philological department was reorganised into the historical and philological faculty of the Lesya Ukrainka Lutsk State Pedagogical Institute, and in 1969 in connection with the reorganisation the philological faculty was established as a separate structural subdivision of the institute.
