The final part of the Student Book Trailer Festival BOOK: WAR Fest 2023 was held at Faculty of Philology and Journalism. The event organisers were the lecturers of Department of Social Communications and Faculty of Philology and Journalism.
«We have been training journalists for 17 years, and from September, on Rector’s initiative, within the scope of the specialty 061 Journalism, we will enroll students for the “Advertising and PR” educational programme. Todayєs festival is a test of our students’ own strengths, journalistic and advertising skills», said Nataliia Blahovirna, Vice-Rector for Education and Communication, Associate Professor of Department of Social Communications.
The participants of the event were future journalists loving books, ready to test their advertising skills and journalistic powers, and eager to share their emotions, ideas, and creativity. The contestants had the opportunity to prepare intensively, as they had to spend several months on the task.
At the final part of the fest, the works were evaluated by a panel of judges consisting of Rector of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University Anatolii Tsos, Vice-Rector for Educational Work and Communication Nataliia Blahovirna, journalist, Head of the Channel 12 project Yurii Rychuk, Director of the Pravda PRO production studio, director, screenwriter Serhii Sharayevskyi, Head of the Tourism and Promotion Department of Lutsk City Council, co-curator of the Lutsk Literary Residence Kateryna Telipska, publisher, cultural manager and founder of the MeridianLutsk and Frontera book festivals Ella Yatsuta, technical director of the television and radio company, sound engineer Maksym Blahovirnyi.
The members of the jury evaluated the works of the contestants, awarded the best, in their opinion, book trailer and awarded symbolic gifts to the authors.
«We are grateful to everyone moving “Journalism” in our University up. It is extremely important to fulfill our main mission – to provide quality education so that graduates have good prerequisites for future work and a decent salary. To do this, we work part-time, create conditions for our students to combine theoretical and practical learning, and meet interesting people. Today’s festival is held for this purpose. As a person from a different field, I could not evaluate the work from the point of view of the theory of journalism, direction, and more. I judged from the point of view of emotions and wondered if I had a desire to read the book after watching it. I can say that I am proud of our students, because each work was interesting and impressive in its own way,» said Anatolii Tsos.
Rector also praised the authors of several works.
After that, the members of the jury announced the voting results and awarded the winners.
The winners of the festival were: 1st place – book trailer for Vitalii Zapeka’s book «Women’s Heads Up». The authors are Vladyslav Kaleniuk, Pavlo Kots (II year, Journ-27).
2nd place – book trailer for Natalia Hammauda’s book «Beast». The authors are Nazar Mahurchak, Valentyn Borzenko (II year, Journ-27).
2nd place – book trailer for the book «Unbreakable. A book about the resistance of Ukrainian women in the war with the russian invaders». The authors are Daryna Dudiak, Oleksandra Kochura (II year, Journ-28).
3rd place – book trailer for Andrii Semiankiv’s book «Dances with Bones». The authors are Snizhana Havryliuk, Anna Kravchuk (II year, Journ-28).
3rd place – book trailer for Natalia Tchaikovska’s book «Porcelain Doll». The authors are Anastasia Basalka, Khrystyna Skopyk, Roman Marchuk (II year, Journ-27).
3rd place – book trailer for Pavlo Vyshebaba’s book «Just don’t write to me about the war». The authors are Olena Yemets, Anastasiia Yaroshchuk, Ivanna Redchuk (II year, Journ-28).
Having received the most votes from the student contestants Nazar Mahurchak and Valentyn Borzenko’s work received the audience award.
