February 25, in the hall of Lutsk Palace of Culture, the opening of the exhibition of creative works of students of the specialty 023 Fine Arts, Decorative Arts, Restoration of the Faculty of Culture and Arts “Source of Hope” was held. The participants of the event were Lesya’s people guided by Rector Anatolii Tsos. The event was moderated by Head of the Fine Arts Department Olha Kaleniuk.

“Lesya Ukrainka is a special person, an indomitable woman and our countrywoman who we are proud of. She has a source of strength, energy, invincibility she carried through her entire life. Works related to the work and biography of Lesya Ukrainka are presented here. The paintings are made in different techniques,” noted Olha Kaleniuk.


“There must be a higher power controling our lives. I am very grateful to fate that I ended up here at Lesya Ukrainka University, where I was very well received,” said Inna Cherkesova, Professor of the Department of Fine Arts.

The artist said that she plans to create a series of works dedicated to Lesya Ukrainka and Olena Pchilka. The first two, which have already been completed, were handed over to the University by Inna Cherkesova, and others will be handed over as soon as they are ready.

Dean of the Faculty of Culture and Arts, Vitalii Okhmaniuk, said that the structural unit he is in charge of organised many events during the holiday week. “We will continue to carry the name of Lesya Ukrainka with honour,” the dean summed up.


The exhibition takes place within the framework of the celebration of Lesya Ukrainka’s birthday and University Day. After the ceremonial opening, the audience got acquainted with the works.
