The Ukrainian Centre for Psycho-Trauma at Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University with the British Chevening Alumni Association is implementing The Psychosocial Support for Veterans and Their Families project funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Commonwealth of Great Britain.
The project involves providing psychological support to veterans and their families, teaching English and designing an online psychological help resource. An essential part of the project is the involvement of Chevening graduates of different years, who volunteer to hold meetings of the English Club, during which programme participants improve their skills in spoken English. Among the main requests of veterans during the discussions on psychological support are the regulation of negative emotional states, effective interpersonal interaction in family and professional relationships, efficiency in decision-making.
The project is coordinated by the Ukrainian Centre for Psycho-Trauma director, Larysa Zasekina, a 2018 Chevening Fellow on behalf of our university. Serhii Zasiekin, Professor of the Department of Applied Linguistics, and Maria Kozihora, a graduate student of the Department of General and Clinical Psychology, also participate in the project.
