Cooperation with the Marie Curie-Skłodowska University as a factor in solving the problems of internally displaced persons

On June 27, the participants of the research group of the Institute of Sociology of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (Lublin) met with the representatives of the Faculty of History, Political Science, and National Security of the Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University within the framework of the joint Polish-Ukrainian project “Multi-level Management of the Humanitarian Crisis Caused by Russian Aggression Against Ukraine”. The meeting focused on the researchers' activities in Lublin Voivodeship (Poland) and Volyn Oblast/region (Ukraine).

Partners from Lublin joined the meeting in online format. Among them was the director of the Institute of Sociology, professor, Dr.Hab. Stanislav Lahovskii, team leader – Dr. Karolina Podgurska, and team members – doctors Malgozhata Dzekanovska, Andrzej Ekaterynchuk (also acted as an interpreter), Artur Vysotskyi, Blazej Dychevskyi, Michal Nowakovskyi, and Andrzej Stavytskyi. At the meeting, our University was represented by Halyna Maleonchuk (Deputy Dean of the Faculty of History, Political Science, and National Security, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor), Oksana Yarosh (Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor), Valentyna Liubchuk (Associate Professor and Candidate of Sociological Sciences; online), and Olga Kuzmuk (in-person), Associate Professor who is currently having an internship course at the Polish Academy of Sciences.

The meeting highlighted the issues of cooperation between researchers of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University and Maria Curie-Sklódowska University (Lublin) who conduct joint research into the humanitarian crisis caused by Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The basis for joint activity is the academic cooperation agreement signed by the higher education institutions and updated on November 19, in 2021.

The meeting was held in the format of interaction and cooperation and consisted of two sessions: 1) the introduction of the research groups with presentation of each participant and his/her scientific interests and 2) a discussion of the working issues concerning the study of multi-level management of the humanitarian crisis caused by the arrival of refugees to Poland and internally displaced persons within the borders of Ukraine (a case study of the cities of Lutsk and Lublin). The next research stage will concern the study of the situation in Lublin Voivodeship and Volyn Region.
