On July 8, the multimedia shooting complex was opened on the basis of the Faculty of Law of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University. At the end of the month, the course “Effective mastership and handling of weapons” started. As of today, the fifth group of volunteers has been recruited.
In total, the course includes 33 hours of studying the legal aspects of gun ownership; civil security; fire, tactical, military-medical, physical training; military topography and communication security. At the end of the training an exam will be held in fire and military medical training (evacuation of a conditionally wounded person). The establishment of communication with portable radios in the forest is also trained. Before passing the fire training exam, i.e. shooting with firearms, shooting with an air rifle is practiced. All instructors are highly qualified. In addition, they have been trained by instructors from other countries and adopted their useful experience.
As the instructor of the course said, mostly women, students, and many teachers wanting to learn how to handle weapons come to practice. In general, these are people who have never dealt with weapons but are very motivated. There are those with innate talent; they feel weapons, catch up on everything intuitively. After completion, those who did hard, have been motivated to practise, can show excellent results, high definition for near and far targets. “Nowadays there is a great need for such courses,” the instructors say. Moreover, the threat from Belarus is not yet canceled. If people have practical skills, they will be able to protect themselves first of all, and their relatives if necessary, the house, give a decent fight back or level up with military personnel to defend a certain position.”
Fire training instructors emphasize: “Patriotism is our nation’s main thing. The Ukrainian militaries are well trained and know their tasks and objectives. They are motivated, highly cultured, and respect their authorities. This is the nation’s elite. Our trainees are also motivated and in case of danger, if accompanied by a mentor, they will be able to boldly defend their country. And this course is a very important thing. Not yet understood by everyone. But people have deep respect for the military. After all, they protect our Motherland and citizens living now in peaceful conditions. If respected, a soldier will work at the front line with greater dedication, knowing the cause.”
Vladyslav Strelkov, an Assistant at the Department of State Security of the Faculty of History, Political Science and National Security, shared his own post-graduation impressions: “Since February 24, I have attended a number of courses focused on preparing the population for national resistance. I can say with confidence that these courses are among the best ones in our community. These instructors are competent and experienced. They really have something to share with the trainees. The highlight of this course is practicing shooting with combat weapons according to exercising results. You will not get this opportunity at any other courses in our community. In addition, after completing the training, you will be confident in yourself and defend your home if necessary knowing exactly what to do!”
