On December 11, 2024, the Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University delegation paid an educational visit to the key institutions of the European Union, such as the European Commission and the European Parliament. The delegation included Rector of the University Anatolii Tsos, Vice-Rectors Nataliia Blagovirna and Lyudmila Yeliseeva, deans Larysa Makaruk and Antonina Shuliak, the deans of the University and the Professional College of Technology, Business and Law, student deans and student representatives of all faculties of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University.
During the stay at the European Commission, the delegation had the opportunity to get acquainted with the activities of the EU executive body playing the role of the political executive of the Union. Oleksandra Shkutnik-Volshchak, representative of the Directorate-General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations, presented a report on the topic «The European Commission: The Political Executive of the European Union».



Special attention was paid to multilingualism and the work of the Interpretation Directorate. The speaker was Lidiia Bocharova, a representative of the relevant Directorate.
The visit to the European Parliament began with a presentation on the role and powers of this legislative body, as well as the procedure for adopting laws within the EU. The delegation had a unique opportunity to delve into the specifics of parliamentary work and learn about the ways of coordination between various institutions of the European Union.



A significant meeting for the representatives of the University was with Oleksandr Lazuka, advisor to the Inter-factional Association of Deputies of the European Parliament «Euro-Atlantic Ukraine», a deputy of Lutsk City Council and a graduate of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University. During the conversation, Mr. Oleksandr shared his experience of Lutsk office at the European Committee of Regions, which was opened on March 19, 2024.



Such educational visits are extremely important for students and teaching stuff, as they provide an opportunity to get acquainted with the work of European institutions in practice, understand the principles of decision-making in the EU, and experience the scale of opportunities for Ukraine in the context of European integration.
