Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University held a large-scale meeting with prospective applicants coming for the Open Day 2024.
The major events took place on March 2 in the educational and library building H at 30a Vynnychenko Street. In the hall, stands were set up by the representatives of all faculties and structural divisions for the communication between the students and lecturers of a preferred faculty, getting answers to their questions, and learning about various attractions.
In particular, the students and lecturers from Educational and Scientific Institute of Physics and Technology taught flying drones and robotics, the representatives of Faculty of Chemistry and Ecology showed various experiments, at the Faculty of Medicine stand, the guests could learn about medical devices, providing first aid, the students of Faculty of Law talked about the work of forensic experts and demonstrated the equipment designed for the detection and collection of physical evidence at the scene for further examinations and research. Biology students demonstrated the flora and fauna samples of Volyn region and Ukraine, the representatives of Faculty of Philology and Journalism prepared interesting tasks for the candidates to learn the language, and future psychologists conducted special tests for the enthusiasts.
It is worth noting that the organisers of the Open Day were pleasantly surprised by the sheer number of school students from different parts of Volyn interested in entering Lesya Ukrainka University and wanting to learn more about studying at this higher education institution. In the University library, the communication with Rector took place, the guests listened to the speeches of representatives of the educational institution from the three library floors.
Afterwards, the students visiting the University had the opportunity to meet Rector Anatolii Tsos, the administrative and teaching staff. At the beginning of the meeting, everyone honoured the memory of the soldiers who had given their lives in the struggle for the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine and thanked those who are now defending our state from russian aggressors.
The topic of Anatolii Tsos's speech is "Why do I choose Lesya Ukrainka University?".
"Having once chosen Lesya Ukrainka Lutsk Pedagogical Institute and was not mistaken, never have I regretted the graduation from this educational institution. There are many positive points making our University the best, and I will now provide the reasons why," said Anatolii Tsos sharing the competitive advantages of the educational institution with the future graduates of Volyn schools.
Rector noted that the University is 10th in the ranking of classical universities of Ukraine and 17th in the consolidated ranking of higher education institutions of Ukraine. The University guests also learned about the introduction of elements of dual education, the "Double Diploma" programme and free study abroad, academic exchanges and the Erasmus+ programme. The head of the University also talked about student leisure time at the educational institution, volunteering and assistance to the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
At the end of his speech, Anatolii Vasyliovych invited his team and introduced them to the future students: "This is the team carriying out the general coordination and management of the University."
Then the responsible secretary of the admissions commission, Oleh Dykyi, spoke with the students about the positive dynamics of the quantitative indicator of applicants for several years, as well as about the intricacies of the admissions campaign in 2024, new and old educational programmes of the educational institution, registration and passing of the NMT, calculation of the competitive score, admission benefits and much more.
The University students entertained the audience with vocal, dance and choreographic compositions and instrumental performances. The guests could also enjoy specially prepared tasties.
Afterwards, a campus tour of the University and a free trip to Lutsk Castle and the dungeons of the old town were provided.
