On September 23, 2024, the Educational Centre of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine visited Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University. The Representatives of the Centre held an event aimed at increasing citizens' awareness of the principles of democracy and functions of parliament, promoting the openness of institutions and transparent interaction with citizens, as well as conducting educational programmes for Ukrainian students. The event was conducted by Olena Kostyniuk and Khrystyna Shevchenko (American Councils on International Education).

"Dear society, thanks to our students for such a large audience. We are very glad that we have such an active youth. I am more than convinced that we will gain knowledge, new information and, most importantly, motivation to study. Active students are the future of Ukraine," Rector Anatolii Tsos congratulated the youth.

Iryna Konstankevych, People's Deputy of Ukraine, also visited the University. "Good afternoon, dear students. I am very pleased to be at this meeting. I hope that not only you will gain new knowledge, but I will also learn something new together with you. Because you need to learn during your lifetime. No matter the age, neither the positions you hold, you always need to learn. The world of knowledge is immense, both practical and theoretical," Iryna Konstankevych summed up.

The lecture was attended by students of Faculty of Law and Faculty of International Relations. The event began with a block of questions and answers to Iryna Myroslavivna. To the question of what advice she would give to students who are just opening up certain opportunities, how to make the most of their student years, the People's Deputy answered: "First of all, I want to wish you to be ambitious. Ambition, proactivity are the qualities to guide you in life. That is, you should not only have the prospect of passing the session, graduating from the University. You should clearly understand why you need it. And the higher you set your standards, the more successful your path will be. Use all opportunities at the University. Go to all the clubs, studios, read a lot, develop, get to know each other. And learn languages. Anyone who knows English is good, but try to learn a few more languages as well."

During the event, students had the opportunity to learn about the work of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, its functions and structure. They were also provided with information about the history of parliamentarism, the basis of the functioning of the branches of government in Ukraine, and methods of interaction with the Ukrainian parliament. An educational quiz was held on the Mentimeter platform. The most active students received gifts.
