March 4, 2025, Alla Shvets visited Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University with a lecture «“Fight and Redeem the Homeland”: Ukrainian Women of the PastFighting for the State». The event was attended by lecturers, students and the institution’s management.

“You always actively participate in our projects.  During our visit in Lviv, including the presentation of the complete works of Lesya Ukrainka, you were with us, and yesterday you attended the presentation of the works of Olena Pchilka. We already have preliminary agreements regarding the future presentation of the collection of her works in Lviv. Thank you for your cooperation and joint work for the development of education, culture and the strengthening of our state!”, acting rector Anatolii Tsos greeted the guests.

Alla Shvets is a Doctor of Philology, Deputy Director for Scientific Work of the Ivan Franko Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. During the lecture, Ms. Alla spoke about the contribution of Ukrainian women to the fight for the independence of the state, their active public activity and role in national revival.

She provided the examples of outstanding Ukrainian women who had changed the course of history and shaped the cultural and political space of Ukraine with their actions and intellectual activity.

“Today we have a unique opportunity to hear an extremely relevant lecture, especially in the context of modern challenges faced by the Ukrainians. Its theme is “Fight and Redeem the Homeland”, which are iconic words from Lesya Ukrainka’s “And You Once Fought Like Israel” poem. We have again found ourselves in a situation where we are forced to fight for our statehood. And it is the importance of women in this process that will be discussed during the lecture,” summed up Yuriy Hromyk, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Recruitment.

In addition to historical aspects, the lecture also touched on current issues, as the struggle for independence continues, and the role of women in this process is invaluable. Alla Shvets emphasized that the contribution of women to statehood needs to be researched and popularised, as their voice remains an important driver of social change.
