A Filming Workshop Starts at Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University

On October 21, Faculty of Philology and Journalism of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University was visited by Serhiy Shturkhetskyi, a journalist, teacher and media expert. The participants of the event were greeted by Vice-Rector for Educational Work and Communication Nataliia Blahovirna announcing the topic of the first meeting as part of the filming workshop. "Today you will learn about the safety aspects of journalists' activities. Nowadays, it is very important and relevant," Nataliia Bohdanivna noted and announced the upcoming second part of the filming workshop in November. 

Serhiy Shturkhetskyi was invited to speak next about the planned mode of filming workshop classes. as well as introduce the participants of the event in more detail to the figure of Anna Valentynovych. Noting that this is a Ukrainian woman who was born near Rivne, a heroine of the Polish people, a key figure in the creation of "Solidarity", the Polish movement for social justice, which contributed to the collapse of Soviet communism and, as a result, the restoration of Ukraine's independence.  

That being said, the media person spoke about the basic principles of journalists activity and, in particular, the security part of video documentation in war conditions. "It is necessary to film, stay alive and healthy," Serhiy Shturkhetskyi summed up. 

According to him, participants of the film workshop will receive working materials and small homework assignments. Polish feature and documentary director Jerzy Zalewski will be reviewing the and evaluating the works. 

 

The participation in the filming workshop is free. The participants will have the opportunity to learn the basics of film broadcasting and create short films, with an emphasis on documenting current events in Ukraine and the use of available technologies including mobile phones. In total, the film workshop consists of 10 training hours, the participants will receive a Certificate of Completion. Permanent cooperation with Anna Valentinovych Centre in Rivne will be offered to all interested participants allowing them to develop their skills and take the first steps in film industry.
