The «Lesya Ukrainka University Cup» second open charity futsal tournament was held at Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University.
The competition lasted two days, February 28 and 29. In addition to the hosts, the teams of Ternopil National Pedagogical University named after Volodymyr Hnatiuk, Rivne State Humanitarian University, Zhytomyr State University named after Ivan Franko and Lutsk National Technical University took part in the Lesya Ukrainka University Cup.
The participating teams played 10 matches during the two days of the tournament, according to the results of which the Ternopil team took 3rd place, the representatives of Rivne State Humanitarian University took 2nd place, and the hosts, the futsal players of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, became the winners of the tournament.
The team of Lesya's University started with a draw against the team of Ternopil National Pedagogical University named after Volodymyr Hnatiuk, then confidently defeated the representatives of Lutsk National Technical University with a 6:0 score. The second day of the tournament was more generous in terms of victories for the University team, with a 4:2 score, Lesya's futsal players defeated the Rivne players and scored 3 «dry» goals for the team from Zhytomyr.
During the awarding ceremony, Anatolii Tsos congratulated all contestants and awarded the winners of the Open Cup of Rector of Lesya Ukrainka University. The individual players also received awards. The best goalkeeper of the tournament was Bohdan Kabanets (ZHU named after Ivan Franko), the best scorer for the second year in a row was Volodymyr Mostovyi (TNPU named after Volodymyr Hnatiuk), Vadym Tiutiurat (RSHU) as the best defender recognised by the organisers of the tournament. The title of the best player of the tournament was won by Oleksandr Symenko, the student of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University.
All teams received certificates of appreciation for participating in the charity tournament.
«I sincerely thank all the participants in the tournament, you gave us wonderful emotions, showed a wonderful game and we got what we wanted, could see the technique, good shots, beautiful combinations,» said Anatolii Tsos after the awarding ceremony and assured that next year the tournament will be of a larger scale.
