On September 5, 2024, at Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, Faculty of Medicine held a solemn "White Coat Holiday" event.
At the beginning of the event, the presenter Bohdan Lukashuk urged everyone not to neglect safety and in case of an air raid warning, immediately go to the shelter. Everybody performed the National Anthem of Ukraine and honoured the fallen Heroes with a moment of silence.
After that, Rector Anatolii Tsos was invited to give a welcome speech thanking the students for choosing Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University and Faculty of Medicine in particular. According to the head of the higher educational establishment, the faculty is actively developing, has a powerful material, technical and clinical basis, and a high-quality teaching staff.
"Thank you for staying in Ukraine. Thank you for choosing the most humane specialty, the medical profession. You and I have two main tasks: high-quality education and support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," Rector summed up.
Later, Head of the Health Care Department of Volyn Regional Administration, Yurii Legkodukh, was invited to speak. "Today we have a good and incredible event. I remember the emotions I had thirty years ago when I entered the medical university. It was responsibility and desire for knowledge. You must understand what profession you have chosen. This is a very responsible and sacrificial profession. Remember: you are a part of the medical community of Volyn," summed up the head of the specialised department.
After Yuriy LegkoVolyn National University as a symbol of constructive cooperation between the University and the health care department of the Volyn Oblast.
Andriy Poruchynskyi, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, congratulated the students on the occasion. "We urge all of you to be active and caring, make quality education a priority from the first day," the dean summed up and wished the students confidence of being on the right path.
First-year student Yaroslav Tarasiuk recited the vow repeated in unison by all the students. The event ended with a collective photo.
