On February, 19th,  2015 a group of retired from the Armed Forces of Ukraine servicemen who participated in the ATO, were awarded certificates on the completion of the retraining course in Lesya Ukrainka Eastern European National University. From 10 October to 30 December, 2014 28 former soldiers were taking a training course in "Entrepreneurial Management".

This project was implemented for the first time in Lutsk. Training was held within the framework of Professional Retraining and Resettlement for the Servicemen and Their Families in Ukraine co-project between Ukraine and Norway in collaboration with the International Foundation for Social Adaptation and Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine.

The main objective of the project is to reduce the impact of negative social consequences of economic reforms and the reforms in the defense sector in Ukraine on the retired military personnel and their families.

Among those who congratulated the soldiers on receiving the certificates were Ihor Kotsan, the Rector of EENU, Volodymyr Rubtsov, the President of the International Foundation for Social Adaptation, head of the "Ukraine–Norway" project, Borys Venher, Chief Specialist of social and professional adaptation of former military personnel at the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine, Sviatoslav Kravchuk, First Deputy Mayor of Lutsk, Liubov Lipych, Dean of the Institute of Economics and Management, Mykola Karlin, Chair of the Finance and Taxation Department. All of them were convinced that retraining would enhance the competitiveness of the former soldiers in the labor market of Ukraine, the growth of the welfare of their families through their employment, development of the entrepreneurship among servicemen and organization of the family business, and that this will help former employees of force structures to adapt to civilian life.

Rector Ihor Kotsan wished the soldiers to use the knowledge they have acquired in practice and to become successful. He also thanked the International Foundation for Social Adaptation for participating in this rather serious program. Likewise, Volodymyr Rubtsov, the President of the Foundation, said that Norway would continue to support Ukraine, and that in Lutsk the retraining of servicemen within the framework of the "Ukraine–Norway" project would continue.

The graduates received that day the certificates of Lesya Ukrainka Eastern European National University, diplomas and certificates of the Ministry of Defence of Norway, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway and the University of Nordland.

Undoubtedly, the University is the key to solving social problems facing Ukraine today. Consequently, the University administration, as well as its scientific and teaching staff is putting a lot of effort into self-realization and self-affirmation of servicemen in a new life outside the statute and military orders.
