A new significant location has appeared at Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University: Faculty of Philology and Journalism opened a museum room in honour of the writer and journalist, honorary citizen of Lutsk, Ivan Korsak.
Dozens of distinguished guests gathered at the event: Ivan Korsak's family and relatives, Lesya's people under the leadership of Anatolii Tsos, People's Deputy of Ukraine Iryna Konstankevych, public and mass media representatives.
Vice-Rector Nataliia Blagovirna moderated the event. "I sincerely believe that this location will inspire our students," she mentioned.
Later, Vice-Rector gave the floor to Head of our University, Anatolii Tsos. "The university is not only a quality education. This is culture, memory, the values making us human and European," Rector noted.
He also added that the University already has classrooms named after a number of professors. However, the museum room named after Ivan Korsak is a new, significant event for Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University. Anatolii Tsos thanked everyone for creating a new location. In particular, he expressed personal gratitude to Ivan Korsak's son, a philanthropist, member of the Supervisory Board of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University Viktor Korsak.
Later, Iryna Konstankevych was invited to speak. Nataliia Blahovirna mentioned Iryna Konstankevych recent promotion to Head of the Supervisory Board of the University.
"This is the discovery of not only a place, but also a space of memory. His legacy was supposed to be generalised and it finally happened," said Iryna Konstankevych, adding that in the next room, Ivan Korsak used to meet with his students.
Dean of Faculty of Philology and Journalism, Liliia Lavrynovych, said: "I am delighted to see such a respectable audience within the walls of our faculty. This space obliges us. We will think about the next stages of cooperation." She suggested starting a seminar named after Ivan Korsak.
Head of Department of Social Communications, Olena Kosheliuk, recalled the emergence of the idea of location creation. She also emphasized the fact that student journalists and the department actively cooperate with "SID Media Group".
Viktor Korsak noted that there are people who simply live their lives, and there are those who leave behind themselves a legacy for decades and centuries. Ivan Korsak was the latter. According to him, to raise a great person, you need to have three intelligence types – professional, psychological and aesthetic.
Ivan Feodosiyovych's wife Maria shared her memories about her husband. In particular, she mentioned not only his professional but also human qualities.
