On March 29 Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University hosted a meeting for the spokeswomen of the 14th Separate Mechanised Brigade Named after Prince Roman the Great, Senior Lieutenant Kateryna Lytvynchuk and Captain Nadiia Zamryga talking with students of specialties 061 Journalism and 256 National Security. The meeting was also attended by Rector Anatolii Tsos and Vice-Rector for Educational Work and Communication Nataliia Blahovirna.
The speakers shared their experience of working on the information front with the students, talked about the peculiarities of journalism during the war and provided valuable professional advice.
At the beginning of the meeting, Nadiya Zamryha thanked Rector of the University for the organisation, talked about the cooperation and acquaintance with Anatoly Vasyliovych. “The first meeting took place in the Mykolayiv region.
On his part, Anatolii Vasyliovych got to know our soldiers and residents of the village where we were staying. He brought us guests from Volyn. You have no idea how important it was to us. Thousands of kilometers away from our relatives, for a while we felt that we were at home,” Nadiia Zamryha shared her memories.
Anatolii Tsos, in his turn, noted that he was sincerely impressed by the work of the press service of the 14th SMBr and that it was indeed an honour to host Senior Lietenant Kateryna and Captain Nadiia at Lesya’s University.
“In war conditions, it is very important to be media literate, knowledgeable and have your own sound judgment. To do no harm is the most important thing in military journalism,” said Nadiia Zamryha.
The spokespersons are always side by side with their brigade, they go to positions every day. To the students’ question, how not to lose heart and give up, Kateryna Lytvynchuk, without hesitation, answered: “Giving up is not about us. We cannot lose hope, because we are the ones creating the support and mood for our team.” Nadiia Zamryha added: “Peace begins with the military, and life is restored with them.”
It is also very important to build good relationships with the soldiers and the brigade commander, not to let them down. All joint work is built exclusively on trust. A military journalist must be open-minded and able to find the right approach.
“Learn today not to be those people who simply show the facts, but people who make society better with every action and word,” Nadiia Zamryha instructed the students.
At the end of the meeting, the guests made a valuable gift for the University, the state flag of Ukraine with their own signatures. All participants of the conversation took a team photo, thanked the speakers and shared their impressions.
