On October 13, Lesya Ukrainka Museum hosted a remarkable and significant event not only for the University, but also for the entire Ukrainian humanities. It was the presentation of Maria Moklytsa’s latest monograph “Lesya Ukrainka: Deconstruction of Readings”.

At the beginning of the event, the event moderator, Serhii Romanov, introduced the author of the book to the audience: “a person who keeps her word in defense of the country and culture.” As Serhii Mykolayovych noted, the monograph can be read in different ways: as a scholarly work; art canvas; essay; and as a committed reader of Lesya Ukrainka for many years with a unique view of her phenomenon. “And the author calls us to this conversation,” Serhii Romanov summed up.

After that, Maria Moklytsa took the floor. The author shared her own thoughts with the audience on the definition of the concept of “deconstructivism”, about Soviet narratives, re-reading the classics and assimilation of values by culture, critical thinking, and more; spoke about the deep personal motivation forcing her to work on this book: “If I study, I want to share my thoughts.”

Rector Anatolii Tsos congratulated Maria Vasylivna on the publication of the monograph, noting: “Education today is one of the most important factors in Ukraine’s victory in this war. Especially education, which is combined with military-patriotic education, science and generally with the formation of personality. Today, it is not enough to consider studying at the University as a system of acquiring certain professional knowledge, abilities and skills, but it should be considered through the prism of the formation of a patriot. And that is why it is extremely pleasant that today we jointly attend the presentation of the monograph dedicated to Lesya Ukrainka.” As Anatolii Vasyliovych noted, Lesya Ukrainka helps to form a positive image of the University, Lesya’s people and quality education at the Higher Education Institution. Rector sincerely thanked Maria Vasylivna for another step in the research of Lesya Ukrainka and concluded: “We have something to be proud of!”
