Eighteen interns of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University have started their studies. The meeting, during which the details of the educational process were discussed, took place on August 3 within the university walls.
The meeting was attended by: Rector of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University Anatolii Tsos, Vice-Rectors Yurii Hromyk and Nataliia Blahovirna, Director of Educational and Scientific Institute of Continuing Education Oleh Dykyi, Dean of Medical Faculty Andrii Poruchynskyi, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Andrii Yagenskyi the interns themselves.
Rector Anatolii Tsos thanked the interns for their trust in Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University: «It is a great honour to work with you and develop medicine in Volyn and at our university.» He noted that recently a round table of the region’s leading physicians was held at the university base, where the training of physicians at a classical university was discussed as well as solutions to improve it.
Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Andrii Yagenskyi, known to have been taking care of interns for many years, shared his experience of cooperation with young doctors. According to him, it is important that interns have access to patients and acquire professional theoretical training. He advised young doctors to try gaining professional knowledge as much as possible during the internship and not being afraid to ask questions.
«Dear doctors, we have two reasons to welcome you. The first is that you have obtained a higher medical education. The second is that you have become interns, so you are taking a serious step towards becoming a professional,» Yurii Hromyk, Vice-Rector for Academic Work and Recruitment, addressed the interns.
Vice-Rector for Educational Work and Communication Nataliia Blahovirna emphasized the importance and relevance of medical profession, noting that the quality of life and health of Ukrainians will depend on young medical interns. The Educational and Scientific Institute of Continuing Education will take care of the organisation of the training of interns.
Oleh Dykyi who is in charge of the structural unit addressed the interns. He said that the practical activities of interns of nine specialties would take place on the basis of four health care institutions in Lutsk.
The start of training is on August 1 and the completion will take place according to the individual trajectory. The meeting was moderated by Dean of Faculty of Medicine, Andrii Poruchynskyi.
