Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University celebrated a double holiday: the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Volyn State University and the graduation ceremony. The celebrations took place on July 16 on the territory of Lubart Castle.
Lesya’s people, the representatives of authorities and the clergy gathered for the event. A moment of silence was held and the performance of the National Anthem of Ukraine. Unfortunately, even the day of celebrations was tainted with a casualty: father of a graduate of the Faculty of Psychology, Anastasiia Slupska, was killed in the war. The organisers of the event emphasized the importance of observing safety rules and announced to the audience a list of shelters.
Metropolitan Michaiil of Lutsk and Volyn blessed the event and wished the graduates to choose the right path in life.
Rector Anatolii Tsos began his speech by mentioning that Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University has a 30 years’ history and also mentioned Lesya’s people who had contributed to the development of the higher education institution. According to Rector, the university preserves and continues the Volyn educational tradition.
Anatolii Tsos remarked that, in addition to studying, the graduates, like all Lesya’s people, did everything for the Victory of Ukraine. «Dear graduates, you have graduated from an excellent institution of higher education. You are the best! You stayed in Ukraine, studied and will work for its good, development and victory. You have knowledge, skills and competences and can use your potential for our state,» Rector said.
People’s Deputy of Ukraine Iryna Konstankevich emphasized that Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University graduates are strong and armed with knowledge. «Dear graduates, I know that fellow teachers are rooting for you. 30 years of the university community is a lot. This is generated experience, accumulated capacities which are conveyed to the graduates,» she said.
Iryna Konstankevych wished the graduates to think about the way Ukraine needs them for reconstruction, to be patriots and understand having the opportunity to study for Master’s degree and continue their educational trajectory.
First Deputy Chairman of Volyn Regional Council Yurii Polishchuk said that the elite of Ukraine gathered at the event. He wished the graduates to work, live and create in Ukraine, congratulated the university on its anniversary and wished it to become the best institution of higher education in Ukraine. In general, during the holiday, a lot of greetings and wishes were sent to the hosts of the event, in particular from the artists of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University. More than 1,420 graduates received a diploma, 149 with honours.
