The presentation of the latest generation polygraph complex «Rubikon» by Executive Director of the All-Ukrainian Association of Polygraph Examiners, polygraph expert, lawyer Vedmid Volodymyr Anatoliiovych took place at Faculty of Law of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University.
The polygraph will be used on the basis of the «Educational and Scientific Laboratory of Polygraphology and Forensic Psychological Examinations» for training students as future lawyers and law enforcement officers. A laptop and a special chair were also purchased for the operation of the polygraph.
Volodymyr Vedmid talked about the work of the polygraph, its structure and added that the university polygraph complex can be both stationary and working «on the road».
The polygraph expert also noted that in today’s world, solving crimes largely depends on such complexes and well-trained specialists.
«The programme and the device can be compared to a cardiogram in medicine. The cardiogram is taken by a nurse for a doctor to decipher. The polygraph examiner must correctly construct the questions, ask and correctly assess the reaction. 95 % of success depends on the polygraph examiner. A specialist in this field is very important,» said Volodymyr Medvid.
The executive director of the All-Ukrainian Association of Polygraphologists also noted that Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University is the second one which he remembers to be among educational institutions that equipped such a laboratory and purchased a polygraph.
Rector thanked Volodymyr Vedmid and Anton Demchuk for the idea of purchasing a polygraph and expressed hope that the activity of the laboratory and such a complex will only improve the quality of education and highly qualified specialists training.
