On April 14, 2025, the “In the Light of Easter” unique exhibition of works by the students of Department of Fine Arts of Faculty of Culture and Arts was opened in the hall of the main building of Lesya Ukrainka National University.
The event was attended by acting rector Anatolii Tsos, Vice-Rectors, Dean of Faculty of Culture and Arts Vitalii Okhmaniuk, Head of Department of Fine Arts Tetiana Prokopovych, Associate Professor Oleksandr Berlach who supervised the process of creating works, lecturers and students.

The exhibition presented for the first time the icons created by the students under the guidance of Associate Professor of the Department of Fine Arts Oleksandr Berlach. The creative work exhibited at the event is the result of two years of students' work.

“Charity fairs and exhibitions in this difficult time are not just some administrative decision, they are our way of life. As patriots of the country, we must help the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It depends on this whether we will live in Ukraine or study at a Ukrainian university. I sincerely thank you for your creativity and talent,” said acting rector Anatolii Tsos, noting that the icons are very skillfully executed.

“This is the first time we are exhibiting such a large number of icons. In such a dark time that we and our country are currently living, it is extremely valuable to preserve the traditions and light of our spirituality,” said Head of Department of Fine Arts and the event moderator Tetiana Prokopovych.

Dean of Faculty of Culture and Arts Vitalii Okhmaniuk noted: the students whose works are exhibited and their mentor Oleksandr Berlach can rightly be considered the founders of the modern Volyn school of icon painting.

“The works of my fourth year are presented here. The students worked on the “Fundamentals of Icon Painting” educational component. The works are executed on boards, according to all the canons of icon painting. These icons are more modern, the students always bring their own vision,” said Oleksandr Berlach.

After the exhibition opening, everyone was invited to join the charity master class on Easter egg-making “Victory Easter Egg” held within the Easter Marathon. Halyna Vakhramieieva, a lecturer at Department of Fine Arts of the Faculty of Culture and Arts, guided the process and students helped the participants. The funds collected during the master class and exhibition will be donated to the Ukrainian military.

The exhibition will run until April 25, 2025.
