On May 13, 2024, a meeting with a journalist, screenwriter, producer, author of documentary and historical projects Akim Galimov took place in the library of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University.
Lesya’s people guided by Anatolii Tsos attended the event represented by University employees, lecturers and students. Dean of Faculty of Law, Anton Demchuk, introduced the guest and gave the floor to the rector.
“The University can be successful only pursuing a policy of open interaction with the government, business, various institutions, opinion leaders, and talented individuals. Then the students will get a good education and be successful,” Anatolii Tsos summarised, and also thanked Akim Galimov for receiving the invitation to visit the University.
At the beginning of his speech, Akim Galimov called for an open dialogue. “It is superb to be present here, at the University, among the students. Today we will talk about our history, identity,” said the media person.
Akim Galimov told that the purpose of his visit to Volyn was not only to visit the University, but also to film Zhydychyn. The author of historical projects noted the necessity of promoting “local history”, getting rid of the inferiority complex, emphasizing our national narratives.
During the meeting, Akim Galimov provided an example of russian manipulation of history. For example, the disinformation concerning the Crimea. The influence of russian media products and TV series on the propaganda of the aggressor's interests was also discussed.
Akim Galimov talked about already filmed and realised projects, and also shared creative perspectives for the future. The meeting was accompanied by questions and answers from the audience.
