A meeting of Head of the Taras Shevchenko Scientific Society Roman Kushnir with the academic community of the University and representatives of other institutions of higher education in Volyn took place at Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University.
The event was attended by the deputy Heads of the society Ihor Mrihlod, Lidiia Boichyshyn, Valentina Chopyak; People's Deputy, Professor of Department of Ukrainian Literature, Member of the Supervisory Board of University Iryna Konstankevych; representatives of Volyn educational institutions: Rector of Lutsk Pedagogical College Petro Boychuk, Rector of Volyn Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education Petro Oleshko, Rector of the Lutsk National Technical University Iryna Vakhovych, acting Rector of Volyn Medical Institute Tetiana Pastryk.
During the meeting, Roman Kushnir told the audience about the structure he is in charge and noted that Taras Shevchenko Scientific Society is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year. "We came today for two reasons - the conference of our medical commission "Nursing in the Conditions of Modern War" and the resumption of the activities of the Taras Shevchenko Scientific Society. It has worked with Professor Anatolii Svidzinskyi and Petro Trokhymchuk contributing to it, but now I would like it to work better," said Roman Kushnir calling on representatives of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn University and other institutions to join various activities of the society.
Roman Kushnir also presented the educators with a special certificate stating that Volyn branch of Taras Shevchenko Scientific Society is part of the society's structure. In addition, Petro Trokhymchuk, Tetiana Pastryk, Halyna Martyniuk and Alla Lazko received certificates of membership in Taras Shevchenko Scientific Society.
Roman Kushnir called on Rector of the Lesya Ukrainka University and representatives of other institutions to join the society life of and publish their scientific works in the Bulletin of Taras Shevchenko Scientific Society.
Anatolii Tsos thanked the guests for their visit and emphasized the pivotal role of education in the development of a state. "My colleagues and I will certainly join the activities of Taras Shevchenko Scientific Society and further development of science, and hence the formation of Ukraine," said Anatolii Vasyliovych.
Iryna Konstankevych emphasized that during the anniversary year of Taras Shevchenko Scientific Society, a series of events and meetings with scientists in the regions are taking place. "The network of the society must scale up its activities, relying on university science, educational institutions with powerful scientific centres," said Iryna Konstankevych. Also, Iryna Myroslavivna suggested intensifying work on the dissemination of National Science and Technology at higher state-level platforms, involving young scientists in their work.
After that, Roman Kushnir and Anatolii Tsios signed a memorandum of cooperation between Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University and the Taras Shevchenko Scientific Society for the implementation of a consistent government policy regarding the development of domestic science and technology, obtaining world-class scientific results and their use in order to ensure the sustainable development of Ukraine as a modern European country. At the end of the meeting, Anatolii Tsos presented Head of Taras Shevchenko Scientific Society Roman Kushnir with a complete academic edition of Lesya Ukrainka's works edited by the University's scholars.
