On May 17, as part of the Faculty of International Relations Week of, the opening of the Regional School for a Young Ukrainian Politician and Diplomat took place.
Rector of the University Anatolii Tsos, Dean of the Faculty of International Relations Antonina Shuliak, graduates of the faculty and diplomats took part in the event: Lyudmyla Yenina – deputy Director, Head of the Sanctions Assessment and Monitoring Department of Department of Economic Diplomacy and Sanctions Policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Yurii Karpuk – Consul, Advisor of the Department of Protection of the Rights of Ukrainian Citizens and Legal Entities of the Department of the Consular Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, First Secretary for Consular Affairs of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Kingdom of the Netherlands; Oleksandr Motsyk is a Ukrainian diplomat, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United States of America (2010–2015) and the Republic of Poland (2006–2010). Iryna Konstankevych, People's Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Deputy Member of the Permanent Delegation of the VRU to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, emphasized the importance of work on the diplomatic front in a video addressing the participants.
The regional school is an educational and career guidance project that provides pupils and students with the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the specifics of the work of a politician and diplomat. For students, this is an opportunity to make a conscious choice of profession in the future, and for students to improve their knowledge and skills as an international specialist. It is a tool for finding motivation and professional development of young people, the beginning of mastering the profession of a diplomat, politician, state and public figure. At school, we will expertly talk about politics and diplomacy.
The training presupposes the following: meetings with lecturers of the Faculty of International Relations of the Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, who will give lectures on theoretical issues related to political science and diplomatic protocol and etiquette, with practicing politicians and civil servants of city, regional and state institutions, as well as with diplomats working in diplomatic and consular institutions of Ukraine abroad, employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine; obtaining personal competencies and "soft skills".
We invite students of grades 9–11 and students of higher education institutions to study. Training will take place in a mixed format. Online meetings will take place in Teams. Participation is free. After graduation, school participants will receive a certificate. For FIR students, it is planned that the three best graduates of the school will undergo internships as consultants to Iryna Konstankevych, a Member of the Permanent Delegation of the VRU to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
