On May 1, 2025, the premises of Volyn Regional Museum of the Ukrainian Army and Military Equipment turned into a centre of unity, gratitude, and support. A charity chat organised by Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University took place.
The event was the culmination of the traditional Easter charity marathon. The academic community united for a great goal of helping our military.

This year, the marathon was dedicated to raising funds for the 100th and 14th brigades. Everyone could make a feasible contribution: a donation for admission or contributions into special boxes. During the chat, 58.5 thousand hryvnias were raised to be transferred to our defenders. Students and lecturers from all faculties joined the event, where the educational community held meetings with the military, volunteers, and partners.
The event began with a minute of silence, honouring all fallen Ukrainian Heroes.

Then the welcome speech was delivered by acting rector of the University, Anatolii Tsos: “I see our soldiers here, so we all sincerely thank you for the opportunity for our University to work in a full-time mode in a relatively calm region. All this is only possible owing to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The main mission of the university is to provide quality education. To do this, together with you, we create conditions for learning, implement various programmes of dual education, academic mobility and much more. Meanwhile, dear students, we are part of society. And only our concern, our active civic position can have a positive impact on society and help Ukrainian defenders. Every year we traditionally organise such a marathon, and I thank every student, every lecturer for their donations. Let us remember: now you are demonstrating your civic position, which you will be proud of in many years. Therefore, we work together for both education and our Armed Forces of Ukraine.”

Veteran policy specialist Andrii Lev also thanked everyone for their participation, wishing a good mood.

The event’s programme was rich and diverse. The visitors had the opportunity to see performances by dog handlers and the SAPSAN unmanned systems battalion of the 14th Motorised Rifle Brigade, tactical medicine classes from servicepersons, canine therapy with Ellie the Labrador as a form of psycho-emotional support, a weapons exhibition and historical reconstructions of events from the Cossack era, the Ukrainian People’s Republic and World War II, as well as try delicious kulish.

At the end, the “Davnia Kazka” band gave everyone present a driving musical release – we sincerely thank the team for their active participation, support and conscious inspiring and uniting civic position!

Among the partners and co-organisers are Volyn Regional Museum of the Ukrainian Army and Military Equipment, Volyn SOS Medical Charity Fund, Veteran Hub Community Foundation, and Department of Veteran Policy of Lutsk City Council. We also thank the volunteer movement of our University and its head Aksiniia Marchenko for their help.

The final amount of funds raised during the charity Easter marathon will be announced soon. Follow the official pages of Lesya Ukrainka VNU on social networks and the website. Together – to the victory!
