In the Church of Sophia God’s Wisdom, Lesya Ukrainka University abode, a prayer was offered for the patroness of the institution, the management, professors and teaching staff, students and employees of the University. The service was led by Metropolitan Mykhail of Lutsk and Volyn assisted by the priests of the diocese. Rector Anatolii Tsos, vice-rectors, lecturers, employees and students joined the prayer.
During the service, the representatives of clergy prayed for the health and mercy of God for the entire university family, as well as separately remembered Lesya Ukrainka and prayed for the repose of her soul on the celebration day of her 152nd birth anniversary.
“Honouring our compatriot and a great Ukrainian today, we remember her life, think about the ways we want to follow her. Our references to Lesya Ukrainka are the evidence of our love of her. Just as last year again, on Lesya Ukrainka’s birthday, we are preoccupied with the fate of Ukraine. The strong Ukrainian spirit defeats iron, aggression and pushes us to victory. Our country is protected by the military, but what should academia do? One of the aspects of the victory should be the victory of the Ukrainian language and identity. Thank God that we have a tradition of coming to the university temple on important days. Today is one of those days,” said Metropolitan Mihail.
Rector Anatolii Tsos expressed gratitude to the priests, in particular Bishop Mykhailo, for their support of the University and received a map of Ukraine as a present showing the right geographical location of Lutsk.
