On September 8, 2025, a festive service was held in the Church of Sophia – the Wisdom of God at Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of its consecration.
The prayer united the University community offering with Rector Anatolii Tsos a request to God for the health, wisdom, healing of Ukrainian defenders and such a long-awaited and important peace. The service was performed by Rector of the church, Archpriest Viktor Pushko and Archpriest Vasyl Lozovytskyi.
“May this church, named and consecrated in honour of the wisdom of God, be a beacon and a model for everyone of us. "Let the small presence of lecturers and students in this church at a service or a holiday be a living and visible proof to us as a community, as a people, as an intelligentsia, that we actually support our own traditions and identity, fight and stand in our faith," said Viktor Pushko.
The priest thanked the community of the institution for the opportunity to preserve a unique tradition of having own university church. He emphasized that a truly classical higher education institution is distinguished not only by the high level of lecturers, students and ratings, but also by the presence of a church, which has always been its important feature.
The clergy, lecturers and students of the University walked in a procession around the church. All participants were sprinkled with holy water as a sign of blessing and spiritual strengthening.
