Before the International Student Day, the President Volodymyr Zelenskyi met the representatives of student government bodies of over 200 higher education institutions of Ukraine. The event was also attended by the  student government representatives of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, in particular, Head of Student Council Svitlana Usyk and Student Dean of Faculty of Law Anastasiia Bohdanova, who shared their impressions of the meeting.

“It was an honour to attend such a large-scale event as Head of the student government of the faculty, representing Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, in particular, the native Faculty of Law. In addition, I participated in the event as a member of the Expert Council of Students of Higher Education Institutions. During the event, we had a unique opportunity to directly ask the President of Ukraine questions and receive a meaningful and interesting answer. We also managed to communicate with people’s deputies and ministers, discuss current issues and prospects for the development of education.

I am sincerely grateful to the Expert Council of Students of Higher Education Institutions for organising such an important and large-scale event, as well as for the opportunity not only to see the President of Ukraine and state figures with my own eyes, but also to communicate with them in person.

Once again, I am convinced to be studying at the best university and the best faculty. I express my gratitude to Rector Anatolii Tsos and Dean Anton Demchuk for their support, trust, and the opportunities created for the development,” Anastasiia Bohdanova shared her impressions of the event.

The Head of State emphasized that being a student during the war is difficult and challenging, but very important for Ukraine. Volodymyr Zelenskyi added that even during constant attacks, Ukrainian students study, and the education system works.

Head of the student government, Svitlana Usyk, also shared her thoughts: “On November 16, having attended the event on the occasion of the Student’s Day, my emotions were extremely diverse and rich. This day was celebrated not only as a holiday of youth, but also as an important moment of unity for the students from all over Ukraine. The meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, organised for representatives of all higher education institutions, became a symbol of an open dialogue between the young generation and the country’s leadership. Feelings ranged from excitement to pride. Excitement from the opportunity to be part of such a significant event emphasizing the importance of student life as the future of the state. Pride from the realisation that the students are given the opportunity to express their thoughts, hear the President’s position and participate in shaping the country’s policy. There is a sense of hope in such meetings. This is the moment when I realised that my voice matters and the authorities are interested in supporting the initiatives. I was also inspired by the words of the country’s leader aimed at supporting education, the development of science and technology, as well as creating better conditions for realising the potential of young Ukrainians. For many, this day could also be a motivational boost as an opportunity to meet the President in person, share their ideas or concerns, understanding that the students’ opinions affect the society and future of Ukraine. It was a day of mixture of joy, enthusiasm, excitement and even responsibility for correctly representation of their community. Such an event creates the atmosphere of unity, encourages action and reminds that together we can achieve great changes.”

The students emphasize that such meetings leave deep impression in the hearts of young people. They motivate, unite and give confidence that together we can achieve great changes.
