More than three hundred schoolchildren from different parts of our region and even Rivne region became participants in the «Space of opportunities: the forum of student self-government in Volyn» event taking place on April 2, 2024 in the educational and library building of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University.
The event was attended by the people of Lesya, employees, teachers and students, guided by Rector Anatolii Tsos. In addition, the forum was attended by government representatives, public activists, educators, and journalists.
The host of the event was Bohdan Lukashuk who invited Rector Anatoly Tsos to speak first. He spoke about the competitive advantages of the University, its main areas of activity and priorities. Head of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University emphasized the student-centered nature of the higher education institution: «Students can come to me at any time, organise an event, we support their initiatives.»
Deputy Mayor of Lutsk, Iryna Chebeliuk, also congratulated everyone: «The elite of the region, the best children, have gathered here. The peace and tranquility of young generation is very important to us.» Iryna Chebeliuk expressed her belief that the forum will be interesting and also thanked the University for all initiatives, including volunteer initiatives.
«It is very important to develop active citizenship in children and youth, to support them in all endeavors. This way, in the future, they will be able to become active citizens of their country and acquire the necessary qualities in the modern world,» said Kateryna Shklioda, Head of Board of Ihor Palytsa «Only Together» Foundation.
The main panel of the forum included the following areas:
– «The best practices of student self-government of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn Natioal University» (speakers – Vira Antropova, Tetiana Dorosh);
– «Youth Council at Lutsk City Council: an opportunity to be heard» (speaker – Khrystyna Slovik);
- «Participation of youth in community management» (speaker – Oleksandr Vaseiko, Had of Youth Council of the Pidgaitsivska Village Council);
– «ELSA LUTSK» (speaker – Oleksandr Soroka);
– «UMSA_Lutsk Branch of the Ukrainian Medical Student Association» (speaker – Yaroslav Andriychuk);
– «Youth public organization «Ukrainian Union of Young Geographers» (speaker – Sofia Klets);
– «Achievements and prospects of the «Cossack Republic» – the student self-government system of Berestechko Lyceum.»
After that, a number of thematic panels of the participants' choice took place in various university locations:
– «Youth as agents of behavioral change»;
– «The role of education in the formation of national identity and resistance»;
– «Blockchain technologies and crypto currency»;
– «Simulation of crime investigation»;
– «Synchronous translation – Simultaneous interpretation»;
– «Mental health support by means of art practice»;
– «Youth leadership: creating a successful team.»
The co-organisers of the event were Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, Lutsk City Council and Ihor Palytsia «Only Together» Foundation.
