A charity race was held in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine within the Easter charity marathon of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University.
The event was attended by Rector of the University Anatolii Tsos, Vice-Rector for Educational Work and Communication Nataliya Blahovirna, deans, lecturers and students of Faculty of Physical Education, Sports and Health, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Foreign Philology, Faculty of Pedagogical Education and Social Work, Faculty of Biology and Forestry, Faculty of Information Technologies and Mathematics, Head of “Special Olympics of Ukraine” in Volyn region, Kateryna Svishcheva. The presenter was Olga Ivaniuk, Deputy Dean for Educational Work of Faculty of Physical Culture, Sports and Health.
At the beginning of the event, the National Anthem of Ukraine was sung and all the Heroes were commemorated who died defending the Motherland from the russian invaders.
Rector of University Anatolii Tsos also addressed the participants of the race: “Dear students, lecturers, colleagues, guests of our event. I am always happy to participate in actions combining physical education and charity. And I am doubly pleased that our educational institution organises such races. Such events are very important for supporting military personnel and bringing people together. By volunteering and participating in them we also bring the Victory closer.”
Afterwards, Sofia Tkachuk, a student of Faculty of Physical Culture, Sports and Health, conducted a warm-up for the racers.
The main part of the charity and sports event took place in the Lesya Ukrainka Central Park of Culture and Recreation.
During the race, everyone could join the charity collection for the needs of servicepersons of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the organisers, it was possible to collect 5,900 hryvnias. In particular, 4,000 of the sum were handed over by the representatives of Faculty of Physical Culture, Sports and Health.
