On April 14, 2025, at the initiative of the acting rector Anatolii Tsos, the Easter Marathon was launched at Lesya Ukrainka National University within a series of charity events designed to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“The task of the University is high-quality education. However, the Higher Education Institution cannot exist separately from the society we are part of. Our public attitude is extremely important for the students, for us, for Ukraine. We have traditionally held a large charity marathon involving fundraisers for the 100th and 14th brigades. We will definitely buy drones and send them to the front, because our state can exist only when we, together with our soldiers, and at own places, defend it. I sincerely thank everyone for every donation and belonging,” said Anatolii Tsos.
Students and teachers of all faculties organise charity fairs with possibilities to buy various delicacies, handicrafts, and take part in competitions and lotteries. All proceeds will go to the 100th Motorised Rifle Brigade and the 14th Motorised Rifle Brigade.
The marathon was opened by students of Faculty of International Relations who offered to buy cakes and pastries, as well as sylianka – traditional Ukrainian beaded jewelry.

At Faculty of Information Technologies and Mathematics, donaters were treated to confectionery, pizza, and fruit salads.

Faculty of Philology and Journalism surprised with the variety of fair goods. They sold sweets, knitted toys and jewelry, stickers, surprise boxes, and postcards with predictions. The event also invited the soldiers of the 100th Brigade currently undergoing rehabilitation in Lutsk.

The floor was given to Senior Sergeant Mykola, Commander of the Reconnaissance Platoon of the 100th SMBr, who said: the ongoing russian-Ukrainian war is a war of drones that conduct reconnaissance and fire damage to the enemy, so the University’s initiative to purchase drones is extremely important. “We rely on you. Every donation you make is important. If you want to donate, then now is the time to donate for the drones,” the military said.

Students of Faculty of Chemistry and Ecology sold juice, pizza, and homemade pies baked by themselves.

Faculty of History, Political Science, and National Security sold original cakes and certificates for a tour of Lutsk Castle, while Faculty of Economics and Management, Faculty of Medicine, and Educational and Scientific Institute of Physics and Technology treated the donaters to burgers, salads, and sweet pastries, including Easter cakes.

Faculty of Foreign Philology presented sweets, pastries, salty snacks and handmade products.

The students of Professional College of Technology, Business and Law treated with sandwiches, chocolate bars, various pastries, and also presented a game where everyone could try their hand at winning a sweet present.

The charity Easter marathon will last until April 16, and all faculties of the educational institution will join it. We will report on the amount of funds raised later at the official website of the Lesya Ukrainka VNU and its official platforms on social networks.
