On June 21, the University held a ceremonial presentation of certificates to students who successfully completed the training courses “European integration of Ukraine: a competent civil servant”, “European integration of Ukraine: a competent teacher”, “European integration of Ukraine: a competent graduate” and the course “Finances of the European Union”, as well as a press conference according to the results of the implementation of the Jean Monet Chair “EU Studies at the Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University” project of the EU Erasmus+ program.
The head of the Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, Professor Anatolii Tsos, and the heads of partner institutions − the director of the Volyn Regional Advanced Training Center Tetyana Lytvynenko and the rector of the Volyn Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education, Professor Petro Oleshko − addressed the participants with congratulations. They presented certificates and manuals of the “European Union” as a gift to 133 civil servants, teachers and young scientists. The dean of the faculty of international relations, professor Antonina Shulyak and the project trainer, assistant professor of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University Serhiy Fedonyuk also addressed the participants with congratulations.
Project coordinator, professor, head of the Department of International Economic Relations and Project Management of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University Andrii Boyar told the audience about the goals and objectives of the project, the measures implemented over the course of three years, and plans for the future. The most experienced scientific and pedagogical staff of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, Vadym Hetman Kyiv National University of Economics, National University of Civil Defense of Ukraine (Kharkiv), Volyn Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education were involved in conducting classes within the framework of the mentioned trainings and courses. A comparison of the test results of checking the primary and final competencies of the trainees showed an increase of about 100 %!
The goal of the project is to promote good-neighborly relations between Ukraine and the EU and create prerequisites for closer integration of Ukraine with the European Union by spreading knowledge about the EU in the northwestern region of Ukraine (Volyn and neighboring regions). The main means of achieving this goal is the training and advanced training of teachers, lecturers, young researchers and civil servants in the field of European integration through the system of trainings and educational courses at Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University. Pro-European trainings for educators and local government representatives make it possible to achieve the greatest multiplicative and long-term effect on the realization of the European integration aspirations of this country.
Within the scope of the project, there were organized and held nine 48-hour trainings “European integration of Ukraine” for secondary school teachers, young scientists and civil servants, several press conferences and presentations; there were improved qualifications of 67 teachers, 123 young teachers and scientists and 179 civil servants from different regions of Ukraine, there were published study guide “European Union” and seven scientific articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals. In addition, there were developed and introduced two new courses – “European Union: Mission and Organization” and “EU Finances” into the initial plan of the master’s degree in the specialty 292 International Economic Relations. By the end of the project implementation period (November 2022), there will be held an international conference, and there will be published the brochure “Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU: what needs to be done to strengthen its implementation at the regional level?” and there was established the Center for EU Studies.
