The full-scale invasion of the enemy significantly changed the lives of Ukrainians. The majority of citizens of our country were forced to leave their homes: some went to seek refuge abroad, others moved to the western regions of Ukraine.
Some of the internally displaced persons were accepted by Lutsk. With joint efforts, the representatives of the community began to help the individuals who came to Volyn due to the enemy aggression. The University has traditionally taken an active position in such initiatives. Lesya’s people of started to volunteer actively, organise charity events, provide professional help and support to those in need.
An important initiative was the opening of the Ukrainian Language Conversation Club for forcibly displaced persons from regions with active hostilities. The first class of the club started at the end of March.
The Head of the project was the Assistant Professor of the Department of Ukrainian Language, Oksana Pryimachok. Mrs. Oksana offers visitors various tasks and exercises. The club members perform some of them at home. Classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday at 4:00 p.m. Not only internally displaced persons, but also residents of Lutsk joined the good initiative.
On September 6, several dozen visitors came to the next class at the Faculty of Philology and Journalism.
“People who come to us regularly often bring their acquaintances and friends. Some of them are local, from Lutsk. Through grammar and word combinations, we make sentences, talk, read poems. We have various visitors: doctors, professors, teachers, persons with two higher educations. A real family atmosphere reigns here. After finishing classes, people don't rush home, they chat,” says the Head of the club.
According to Oksana Priymachok, the granddaughter of one of the visitors wrote a poem about classes based on her grandmother’s stories. Such stories and people’s gratitude inspire our consideration.
