A concert dedicated to the Day of Defenders of Ukraine and the Day of Education Workers was held at Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University.
The event started with commemorating the Heroes who gave their lives defending the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
In his welcoming speech, Rector of the University Anatolii Tsos emphasized the symbolism of this year's same day celebration of the Day of Defenders and Education Day, because some are fighting on the battlefield, while others instilling love for the Motherland in the younger generation.
"Otto von Bismarck said an apt phrase: 'Wars are won by school teachers and a modern rifle.' Dear colleagues and dear students, victory in this war will be achieved with modern weapons, but modern education is no less important. The tasks of modern education include not only the formation of a highly qualified specialist, but also an individual loving his country and ready to defend it with weapon in his hands. Although we have only been studying for a month this academic year, I want to thank the students and staff for the science picnics, the fair marathon, during which money was collected for the needs of our defenders. This kind of assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine is very important and needed," said Anatolii Tsos and congratulated his fellow educators, wishing them health, strength, professional growth and Victory.
Later, individual scientific and pedagogical workers received awards from Rector, certificates and thanks from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, honorary certificates of Volyn Regional Council, Department of Education and Science of Volyn Oblast and Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University as well as Rector's thanks.
In addition, the employees of the university library received awards on the occasion of the All-Ukrainian Library Day, which is celebrated on September 30.
Students of various faculties of the University delighted the audience with their vocal and choreographic shows.
