The girls’ national team of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University took second place at the championship of Ukraine in futsal among higher education institutions. The team consisted of football players of Lutsk FFC «Legion-University» and football players of Volodymyr «Ladomyr». The team was headed by the «Legion» coach Dmytro Holoskokov.
In the group stage matches, the national team of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University defeated Kyiv National University (6:3), lost to Lviv CYFC (1:0) and smashed Poltava Polytechnic (6:1). Six points and personal bests allowed the team to reach the finals in the first month.
In the trophy match, the girls played against the Ukrainian State University named after M. Drahomanov, where, unfortunately, they lost with a score of 3:0, finally taking the second place. Myroslava Newar, a student of Lesya Ukrainka University, became the six-goal top scorer of the tournament.
It should be added that the University team is the second time in a row prize-winner at the competition among higher education institutions. Last year, female students from Volyn also won silver medals.
«It is always an interesting experience working with the national team. It is very good that the representation of female athletes from «Ladomyr» has not changed, so getting to know each other is unnecessary. The football players are excellently prepared, for which special thanks to their coach Oleh Bortnik. The «legionaires», who last year became first-year students at Lesya Ukrainka University, also confidently entered the team. Unfortunately, they could not take the major trophy. The competitors responsibly took into account last year’s experience of our encounter and made efforts to secure the result by all means. So, we have something to work on, there is motivation for the next season,» commented the coach of the girls’ national team of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, Dmytro Holoskokov.
