On November 17–18, the Ivan Paul II Catholic University of Lublin hosted the International Scientific Conference “Security in Crisis Situations in the Border Regions of Poland and Ukraine”, organised by the Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Poland–Belarus–Ukraine 2014–2020 in cooperation with Vasyl Stefanyk Prykarpattia National University in Ivano-Frankivsk.
The work of six sections was organised in the following directions: 1) increasing the effectiveness of crisis and emergency prevention; 2) socio-economic consequences of crisis and emergency situations; 3) coordination of activities of services and inspections under conditions of threats in crisis and emergency situations; 4) reliable information about threats related to crisis and emergency situations, various information centers, in particular state institutions or mass media; 5) diversity of positions and opinions of experts and scientists regarding countering crisis and emergency situations; 6) humanitarian aid in crisis and emergency situations.
The conference was attended by representatives from various universities of Ukraine and Poland. Among the Ukrainian institutions of higher education were Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, West Ukrainian National University, Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University, Lutsk National Technical University, Ivan Franko Lviv National University, Lviv Polytechnic National University, Odesa National University named after I. I. Mechnikov, Prykarpattia National University named after Vasyl Stefanyk, Uzhhorod National University, Kherson State University, etc. Polish institutions of higher education included Warsaw Polytechnic University, Krakow Pedagogical University, Ivan Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, Marie Curie-Skłodowska University, Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University, Częstochowa Polytechnic University, and others.
On behalf of Lesya Ukrainka University, Rector Anatolii Tsos, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work and International Cooperation Liudmyla Yelisieieva, Associate Professors Olga Korzyk, Olena Dmytrotsa and Oksana Ivantsiv gave speeches. It should be noted that last year in May, an event of this level took place on the basis of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University.
