The students of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, in addition to studying, do sports and achieve success at the national and international levels. The other day, Rector Anatolii Tsos met with two athletes who successfully competed at the Ukrainian K1 Championship and the World MMA Championship. In the K1 championship of Ukraine(Kyiv) the athletes of the University participated thanks to the support of the K1 federation and personally to the head coach, master of sports of Ukraine in hand-to-hand combat, world champion in free combat among policemen Petro Pantik.
The representatives of the largest educational establishment in Volyn managed to succeed. Thus, Anton Slobodian, the student of Faculty of Physical Culture, Sports and Health, won first place. Another representative of the University, Vladyslav Barvanov, the student of Faculty of Pedagogical Education and Social Work, competed against the five-time champion of Ukraine and lost by split decision. The coach of both athletes is Dmytro Valetskyi.
In addition, Yurii Kalinchyk, the student of Faculty of Physical Culture, Sports and Health, returned from Albania, where the MMA World Championship was held. At the competition, he won bronze in the 65.8 kg category. Yurii's coach is Andrii Yanchuk.
Rector talked to the athletes, thanked them for glorifying Ukraine, Volyn and their native University, wished them not to stop at their achievements and pursue new sports victories. Vasyl Pantik, Dean of Faculty of Physical Culture, Sports and Health, and Olena Ishchuk, Deputy Dean for Information Policy and Promotion, were also present at the meeting. During the conversation, Anton Slobodian and Yurii Kalinchyk talked about their participation in the competition, difficulties and the preparation process, and also shared their plans. Rector and Dean promised to support the young athletes and contribute to their development in every possible way.
