The “Renewal 2022. Get Pumped for the Sake of the Future”, implemented jointly by Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University with the Ihor Palitsa “Only Together” Foundation and the Lutsk City Council has ended.
The ceremonial opening of the last class, which took place in the session hall of the Lutsk City Council, was attended by Rector Anatolii Tsos, Vice-Rector for Educational Work and Communication Nataliia Blahovirna, Deputy Mayor of Lutsk Iryna Chebeliuk, Head of the Board of the Foundation Kateryna Shkloda.
Before the final meeting of the project, the participants trained in a special way to try themselves in the role of elected representatives of the community and take part in an impromptu meeting of the local self-government body, discuss draft decisions, debate, and vote at the deputy console.
According to Kateryna Shkloda, participants of the “Deputy School” had previously gone through a simulated election process, drawn up election programmes, and participated in the elections. ‘Apparently, there are people in the hall now wanting to go into politics. I would very much like such young people to be in these seats in the future as deputies of the Lutsk City Council. We are going to try it today,’ summed up Kateryna Shklioda.
Iryna Chebeliuk, Deputy Mayor of Lutsk, congratulated the participants of the school of deputy and wished the students interesting emotions, new knowledge and impressions from the event and the implementation of plans to realise themselves as a deputy. Lesya Ukrainka Volyn University Rector Anatolii Tsos also supported the previous speakers.
The head of the higher education institution welcomed the students’ desire to gain new knowledge and develop. ‘It is very good that you care, have an active position, are eager to and, I’m sure, will work for the benefit of our city and state. Don’t carry knowledge on your shoulders, so get it and use it successfully in the future for the benefit of yourself and everyone around you,” said Anatolii Tsos. The students were informed about the work of the deputy corps of the Lutsk City Council, preparation for sessional meetings, development and submission of draft decisions, sophisticated institution's regulations, the voting process, and the structure of the city council.
At the end of the venue, project participants were awarded certificates of participation in a large-scale event.
