An updated media center was opened at the Philology and Journalism Faculty on 22 December.
The event was attended by Anatolii Tsos, the Rector of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, Natalia Blahovirna, the Pro-Rector for educational work and communications, Lilia Lavrynovych, the Dean of the Philology and Journalism Faculty, Olena Kosheliuk, the Head of the Department of Social Communications, department staff and university students.
Olena Kosheliuk opened the meeting with the welcoming speech and thanked everyone who assisted in media center renovation and updating for their active participation. She said: “At this place we are going to be fully focused on the journalistic activity. We can make and edit videos and interactive talk-shows here. I want this creative workplace to be useful for our students”.
Anatolii Tsos, the Rector of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, expressed his gratitude for the great work done by the Faculty and Department. “It is an excellent place where one can work, communicate, elaborate future plans and put them into practice. I would like to ensure that I will further support the development of journalism at our university”, he stated.
Lilia Lavrynovych, the Dean of the Philology and Journalism Faculty, (acknowledged) confessed that the media center is the heart and core of the Faculty. She said: “The Faculty’s heart should be as hot as fire, strong and emotional. Who was supposed to be here? Well, surely, journalists! It is a nice space that we will support and promote. And the most important thing is that journalists will charge this core with their own energy”.
Natalia Blahovirna, the Pro-Rector for educational work and communications, noted that, on the occasion of the media center opening, students prepared a surprise for the Social Communications Faculty having presented a promotional video. She expressed appreciation to the Department staff for the work performed: “The Department of Social Communications are great enthusiasts”.
Taking the opportunity, Mariia Rozhylo, the Associate Professor of Social Communications Department, awarded a 3rd year student Polina Zabolotna with the certificates for prize-winning places in the International Cartoon Contest.
The students who were present at the event warmly thanked the Department of Social Communications. Namely, the 2nd year student Natalia Kharchuk admitted: “I would like to express our gratitude to all the teaching staff for their hard work. We have become more experienced, better educated, got better understanding of the profession, information and people. We are happy to be taught by the professionals from the Department of Social Communications”.
Other students also joined the “marathon” of thanks and good wishes. After the official part of the event, all the participants were treated to some delicious cookies.
