November 6, 2024 Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Mykhailo Ivan Vynnytskyi visited Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University. The distinguished guest was welcomed by Rector Anatolii Tsos, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, People's Deputy Iryna Konstankevych, vice-rectors, teaching staff and students.

The official visit included several locations of our higher education establishment. Faculty of Psychology was the first visited to have talks with Dean Ludmyla Malimon and faculty members.

In addition, Mykhailo Ivan Vynnytskyi visited the "Mental Health" Scientific and Methodological Centre, where training took place with veterans of the russian-Ukrainian war.

Deputy Minister also talked with Head of Design Department, Dmytro Avramenko, and inspected the University's library.

Later, the delegation headed to the Faculty of Medicine. Lesya's people demonstrated Mykhailo Ivan Vynnytsky the material and technical base, discussed the ways of developing the structural department. Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine highly praised the development of Medical Faculty of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University. "You have chosen the right University," said Mykhailo Ivan Vynnytskyi to the students.

Dean of the Faculty of Law, Anton Demchuk, spoke about functioning of the multimedia shooting range.

Mykhailo Ivan Vynnytskyi also got acquainted with the work of the simultaneous translation laboratory at Faculty of Foreign Philology, talked with Dean Larysa Makaruk, lecturers and students, and also visited the "Student Scientific Game", traditionally organised by the Scientific Society of Postgraduate Students and Students.

Mykhailo Ivan Vynnytskyi shared his impressions of the visit in a comment: "I am amazed by seeing a very lively community today. I travel a lot to the east and south of Ukraine, where mostly higher education institutions work either in a mixed format or online. I did not expect that the material and technical base of Medical Faculty is so well developed at the University. We believe that it is necessary to develop the medical direction precisely in the classic higher education establishment. This is an experiment that works well at Uzhgorod and Sumy universities. There is much to work on and it is very inspiring.

After the Victory, we need to build an economy of knowledge and competence, creativity and art. This is an intellectual economy. In Ukraine, a large number of school graduates, a record for Europe, more than seventy percent, are entering higher education. We are very often criticized for this, but we have to understand that if we have high-quality centres, such as your University, then the graduate will have all the necessary competencies."

Rector Anatolii Tsos also highly appreciated the results of the meeting with Mykhailo Ivan Vynnytskyi. "Today we have had the opportunity to talk with Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Mykhailo Ivan Vynnytskyi, showed our work and our University. During the meeting, the system of higher education, training of doctors and translators, psychological assistance of military personnel were discussed. It is nice that we received positive feedback from him. Good luck and good communication. I am sure that it will lead to good results," said Anatolii Vasyliovych.

"For the University, such visits are an opportunity to understand whether we have chosen the right course in our work. As time and experience have shown, Medical Faculty was the right choice, given modern trends. We visited the faculties of Psychology, Foreign Philology, and Law faculty. We heard firsthand what we need to work on. In general, summing up the visit, Deputy Minister told the students that they had chosen the University correctly. In my opinion, this is the best assessment of the work," said Iryna Konstankevych.
