General information about the lecturer
V. Baran was born in 1953. He graduated from Lutsk secondary school № 1 in 1973. He studied at the Faculty of History in Lesya Ukrainka Lutsk State Pedagogical Institute in 1973–1977, which he graduated with honors. He was called up for military service in 1977–1979.
Practical activity
V. Baran was an assistant in 1984–1991 in Lesya Ukrainka Lutsk State Pedagogical Institute. In 1979–1986 – researcher, senior researcher at the Institute of Social Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR.
He became a senior lecturer at Lesya Ukrainka Lutsk State Pedagogical Institute in 1986, soon later – Associate Professor. Since 1992 – Professor at the Department of History of Slavic Peoples of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn State University, in 1993–2001 – Head of this Department.
Since 2002 – Professor (an academic title) of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn State University.
In 1998–2005 – Vice-Rector for Humanitarian Affairs of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn State University.
In 2001–2010 – Head of the Department of Contemporary History of Ukraine.
In 2010–2020 – Head of the Department of Modern and Contemporary History of Ukraine.
Since 2020 – Head of the Department of History of Ukraine and Archeology.
