General information about the lecturer

V. Pryshliakwas born on April 8, 1962 in the village of Stryhantsiof Berezhanydistrict of Ternopil region in a teacher's family. In 1979–1984 – a student of the Faculty of HistoryinVasylStefanyk Ivano-Frankivsk Pedagogical Institute, who graduated with honors.

Practical activity

PhD in History (1996), Associate Professor of the Department of History of AncientandModernHistoryofUkraine (2002). Member of ShevchenkoScientificSociety(since 1990). Vice-Chairman of the University Branch of the Ukrainian Historical Society (since 1999), Academic Secretary of the III International Scientific Congress of Ukrainian Historians (Lutsk, 2006). Organizer and moderator of international scientific conferences in Lutsk: «Volynin the life of Medieval Europe» (2009), «Battle of Berestechkoin 1651 in the history of Ukraine and Poland: debatableissues» (2011), «Lutsk Congress of 1429 onanepochbackground» (2019). In 1994–2000 he was a researcher at the Polissia-Volyn Ethnographic Center of the Institute of Ethnology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in Lutsk. Curator of the Interfaculty Club of the Ukrainian Language. From 1997 to the present he works part-time as a lecturer at the Department of History of Lutsk Gymnasium №14, where he was the chairman of the scientific society«Intellect». Independent expert of the Institute of Educational Literature of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (2005–2007). Scientific editor of a textbook on the history of Ukraine for 8th grade (Ternopil, 2016). He lectures on the history of Ukraine and Volyn at the Volyn Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education. Internship at the National University of KyivMohyla Academy and Ivan Franko Lviv National University (2001), Ukrainian Catholic University (2015–2016). He lectured at the International School of Humanities of Central and Eastern Europe at the University of Warsaw (2003), in 1997–2006 –Associate Professor-guestof Brest State University.

  • Discussion issues of the history of Ukraine of early modern times;
  • The Hetmanate: politics and society in the last quarter of the 17th– 80s of the 18th centuries;

Ukraine in European historical and cultural contexts.

Research interests

Cossack-Hetman state of the first half of 18th century; History of trade and roads in medieval and early modern Ukraine; Ukrainian historiography of the first half of 20thcentury; Historical local lore.
