The Library of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University is an integral part of the university's information environment, its resource, communication, social and cultural center.
One of the important tasks of the library is to promote the integration of the university's scientific and cultural potential into the national and world information space.
The library collection, which includes more than 845 thousand copies of documents on traditional and electronic media, is a universal base for the educational process and research at the university. More than 8,600 students, scholars and university staff use the library's services.
Users can get literature on a subscription basis, work in the reading rooms, get qualified assistance from the specialists of the information and bibliographic department, as well as work with information resources using WI-FI access.
To provide information support for academic disciplines, the library creates various types of bibliographic products: scientific and auxiliary indexes, bibliographic, recommendation, forms the database “Scientific works of teachers, staff and students of Lesya Ukrainka National University”, edits bibliographic lists for term papers, diploma papers and research papers.
At the request of the departments/faculties, the library prepares lists of books by academic disciplines. Bibliographic products are fully available to users through the library's electronic catalog and the university's institutional repository.
Library specialists strive to expand the range of their services using innovative forms of work and information technologies.
Since 2006, the automation of the main technological processes of the library's activities, namely, acquisition of the collection, scientific processing of documents, reference and bibliographic services, creation and maintenance of the electronic catalog, has been carried out using the automated library information system “UFD/Library”.
The electronic catalog is available to users 24/7.
The library provides organizational and methodological support to the Institutional Repository of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, which accumulates and stores electronic publications and electronic versions of documents created by employees and students of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, and provides permanent free full-text access to them on the Internet.
The library provides a number of services online:
virtual reference, where you can get a short list of documents on a particular topic or a response to another information request;
determination of UDC/JEL classification indices can be obtained by sending an e-mail request;
pre-ordering books in the subscription sector;
selection of documents by topic in the library reading rooms;
informing about services and news of library life on the library's website and Facebook page.
The library provides access to subscribed resources and databases in the test access mode, creates a collection of open access resources, and sends out e-mails about new information resources available to library users.
University researchers and students can receive both individual and group consultations, order a training or seminar on the effective search for information resources for science and education, work with scientific sources, scientometric databases, create and moderate researcher profiles, and promote researcher's publications in the modern information environment.
For first-year students and all interested persons, excursions are held to familiarize them with the library's activities, collections and services, open book reviews, virtual and traditional book exhibitions are organized.
