Terms of Use for the website of the Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University
1. General Provisions and Purpose of the Website
1.1. These Terms of Use (hereinafter referred to as the ‘Terms’) are agreed between the visitor to the Website (hereinafter referred to as the ‘User’) and the owner of the Website and set out the conditions for accessing and using the Website and the materials posted on it.
1.2. The owner of the website vnu.edu.ua is Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, EDRPOU code 02125102 (hereinafter referred to as the “University”).
1.3. By using the Website or any part thereof, the User confirms that they have read these Terms and agree to them in full.
1.4. If the User does not agree with the Terms (in whole or in part), they must immediately cease using the Website.
1.5. The University reserves the right to amend and/or supplement these Terms unilaterally without specific notice. The current version of the Terms is published on the Website.
1.6. The Website may contain links to other resources. The University does not control their content and is not responsible for the policies, security or proper functioning of third-party resources.
1.7. The Website is designed to provide information about the University’s activities, educational programmes, research work, events and other aspects of its operations.
1.8. The materials on the Website are for information purposes only and do not constitute official legal advice, unless expressly stated otherwise.
2. Rights and obligations of the User
2.1. The User has the right to access information, namely: to freely, without charge and without hindrance obtain information posted on the Website, in accordance with its purpose.
2.2. The User has the right to reliable information – to expect that the published information is up-to-date, accurate and presented in accordance with the principles of objectivity.
2.3. The User has the right to use the Website’s materials for personal, educational and scientific purposes, provided that copyright requirements are observed and a mandatory reference to the source is provided. Quotation of materials is permitted provided that the content is preserved and authorship is indicated (where applicable).
2.4. The User has the right to the protection of their personal data processed via the Website in accordance with the current legislation of Ukraine.
2.5. The User has the right to contact the Website administration regarding: clarification of information, reporting errors, and obtaining further explanations.
2.6. The User has the right to use the Website safely without interference with their devices, personal data or private life.
2.7. The User has the right to withdraw consent to the processing of personal data or to request restrictions on its use in cases provided for by law.
2.8. The User undertakes to use the Website lawfully, in good faith and in such a way as not to infringe the rights of others or interfere with the operation of the Website.
2.9. Where feedback/enquiry forms are provided on the Website, the User undertakes to provide accurate, up-to-date and correct information.
2.10. The User is responsible for the content of messages/data sent via the Website and for the consequences of providing inaccurate information.
3. Prohibited actions
3.1. The User is prohibited from:
• disrupting the operation of the Website, attempting unauthorised access to the server/admin panel/data;
• use malicious software, viruses, Trojans, hacking scripts or engage in any actions that may harm the Website;
• collect data from the Website using automated means (scraping, parsing, bots) without the Administrator’s written permission;
• post or send spam, advertising without the University’s consent, as well as messages containing insults, threats or illegal content;
• infringe intellectual property rights in respect of the Site’s materials.
4. Rights and Actions of the University
4.1. The University reserves the right to change the structure, design and functionality of the Website, to restrict access to certain sections or to temporarily suspend the Website for technical or other reasons.
4.2. In the event of a breach of these Terms by a User, the University has the right to take measures to protect the Website and its rights, including blocking suspicious activity and reporting to the competent authorities in cases provided for by law.
5. Intellectual Property
5.1. All materials on the Website (texts, photos, videos, graphics, logos, design, structure, source code, etc.) are subject to intellectual property rights and are protected by Ukrainian law.
5.2. The User is permitted to view the materials on the Website and use them exclusively for personal, non-commercial purposes, without altering the content and provided that copyright notices (where applicable) are retained.
5.3. Copying, reproduction, distribution, publication, public display or other use of the Website’s materials (in whole or in part) for commercial purposes is permitted only with the prior written consent of the Administrator.
5.4. The following is prohibited: the full or partial reproduction of materials for commercial purposes without the University’s written permission; the alteration, distortion or misrepresentation of information; the use of materials in a manner that may damage the University’s reputation; and the removal or alteration of information regarding authorship.
5.5. Where materials belonging to third parties are used on the Website, the rights to such materials belong to the respective rights holders. Such materials are used in compliance with the requirements of the law or on the basis of permissions obtained.
6. Liability and Limitation of Liability
6.1. The unlawful use of the Website’s materials shall entail liability in accordance with the applicable legislation of Ukraine.
6.2. The University reserves the right to protect its intellectual property rights in accordance with the procedure established by law.
6.3. The User bears personal responsibility for downloading any materials and using files from the Website.
6.4. All responsibility for the use of the Website and its content rests with the User.
6.5. The University shall not be liable for any direct or indirect losses arising from the use or inability to use the Website, in particular due to technical failures, interruptions, errors, viruses or other harmful components, unless otherwise provided by law.
6.6. The University does not guarantee that the Website will operate continuously or without errors, or that the results of using the information from the Website will meet the User’s expectations.
6.7. The University reserves the right to remove information from the Website without prior notice if: relevant decisions have been received from state or international authorities; a claim has been received from a rights holder regarding copyright infringement; a substantiated complaint has been received regarding the infringement of the rights of other persons; or content prohibited by this Agreement has been identified.
7. Personal Data and Privacy
7.1. Matters relating to the processing of personal data are governed by the Privacy Policy published on the Website. By using the Website, the User confirms that they have read and agree to the terms of the Privacy Policy.
8. Final Provisions
8.1. Enquiries, suggestions and complaints regarding the operation of the Website or these Terms may be sent to the University’s contact details at post@vnu.edu.ua.
8.2. The legal relationship between the University and the User shall be governed by the laws of Ukraine.
8.3. If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, this shall not affect the validity of the remaining provisions of the Terms.
