Established: 2001
The Department of Organic and Analytical Chemistry was organized in September 1993 at the formation of the Faculty of Chemistry of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn State University. Associate Professor Olga Fedorivna Zmiy had been appointed the Head of the Department. Since April 1994, Associate Professor Dmytro Ivanovych Prots from Ivan Franko Lviv State University had been invited to head the Department. The Department of Organic and Analytical Chemistry existed until 2001, when the Department of Organic and Biological Chemistry was established on its basis, which was headed by D.I. Prots. Since March 2009, the Department is chaired by Dr. Natalia Yuriyivna Slyvka. In June 2010, in connection with the reorganization of the Faculty of Chemistry, the Department of Organic and Bioorganic Chemistry was established. On November 1, 2018, the Department of Organic Chemistry and Pharmacy was established on the basis of the Department of Organic and Bioorganic Chemistry, and Natalia Yuriyivna Slyvka was elected the head of the newly created department. In 2019, the specialty of Pharmacy was opened at the Department.
Main directions of scientific research
• synthesis of new heterocyclic compounds by electrophilic intramolecular cyclization methods;
• synthesis of complex oxides and chalcogenides from organic substances and study of their properties;
• study of the content of fatty acids in natural objects by high-performance gas chromatography;
• isolation of biologically active compounds from plant raw materials and their identification.

The Department of Organic Chemistry and Pharmacy provides:
- preparation of students in specialty 226 "Pharmacy, Industrial Pharmacy", field of knowledge - 22 "Health Care", educational qualification - Master of Pharmacy, professional qualification - Pharmacist.
- teaching training courses in biochemistry, bioorganic and biological chemistry to students in specialties 222 "Medicine", 226 "Pharmacy Industrial Pharmacy, 091 "Biology", 102 "Chemistry", 114 "Secondary education "(specialization 014.06 - "Chemistry").
- teaching organic chemistry to students in specialties 226 "Pharmacy, Industrial Pharmacy", 091 "Biology", 102 "Chemistry", 114 "Secondary Education" (specialization 014.06 - "Chemistry").
